Stubai's main town - Neustift
Due to its proximity to the Stubaier Glacier, Neustift is the most famous and the most visited place of the valley. About 4 km behind Fulpmes begins the extensive municipal area of Neustift, which in the Unterberg and also in the Oberbergtal reaches deep into the glacier regions. The highest point is at 3.505 m, the Zuckerhütl located directly on the national border to Italy in the main ridge of the Stubai Alps.
The municipality is the second largest in Sölden in Tyrol and the third largest in Austria.
The districts are Neustift-Dorf, Scheiben, Kampl, Neder, Milders, Schaller, Krößbach, Gasteig, Volderau, Falbeson, Ranalt, Mutterberg and Oberbergtal.
In harmony with nature
The center of the village is the traditional ski and mountaineering town Neustift, dominated by the mighty village church. It spreads on the debris cone of the Bachertal. Comprehensive is the view, which is best enjoyed from the heights of the left side of the valley. In the valley bottom one sees the powerful Pfaffengruppe, flanked by the Mair- and the burner-tip. To the south rise the limestone spiers of the Elfer- and Zwölferspitze, which are placed on a high foundation of the Urgestein, which serve the Neustift as powerful sundials.
One can see the beautifully formed mountains of the Serleskamm. The view reaches the Hochnissl near Schwaz in the Unterinntal valley. At Neder, the romantic Pinnistal flows from the south with its magnificent pastures. At the Pinnisjoch (2,369 m) lies the famous Innsbruck hut in the midst of a great mountain landscape. The Habicht (3.277 m), one of the most beautiful mountains in the country, rises majestically in the west.
The surrounding peaks are breathtaking. Directly in the town bring the 11er-Bahnen hikers, climbers, bikers and paragliders to wonderful heights.
This is also the starting point of the 120 km-long Stubai Höhenweg and Franz-Senn-Weg, named after the famous "glacier pastor" Franz Senn. Franz Senn also found his last retirement in Neustift, which can be visited at the cemetery.
The Neustift, situated in the back of the Stubaital, attracts visitors through a variety of nature trails and hiking trails. Here, nature lovers can reach the beautiful cableways and flowery regions by cable car.
At the foot of the Stubai glacier
Neustift has been a popular winter sports resort for many years. Particularly appreciated are the Stubai Glacier, the largest glacier ski area in Austria, as well as the ski area on the Elfer with the 8-gondola lift and its tow lifts.
100% snow guarantee from October to June on the Stubaier Glacier, the longest natural toboggan run of Tyrol on the Elfer, the highest Bergrestaurant of Austria, the "Jochdohle", on the Stubai Glacier.
